Chef/Owner Karen McNeil has always been interested in food from a young age. Karen attended and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in criminology and spent the next 20 years in corporate insurance and risk managment.

At the end of those 20 years, she decided to leave her job of 13 years and pursue her passion in food. She went to culinary school at the Art Institute of Colorado. Chef Karen was top in her class; receiving high honors in achievements and attendance. She was the recipient of the John Jellico Scholarship through the Art Institute for the Fall Quarter of 2000. She was also a receipent of the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs Scholarship though the American Academy of Chefs which is the honor society of the American Culinary Federation.

After graduating from culinary school, Chef Karen went into personal chef work and catering. However, the event of September 11, 2001 changed her course. She went to work at Cherry Hills Community Church as executive chef producing food service for small and large events and groups. She also worked at Cherry Hills Country Club working in the main kitchen and managing the pool snack bar. After receiving a number of requests to cater parties, Chef Karen opened Taste of the Season in the fall of 2004.
